And the more they read, the more they shared, liked, tweeted, commented and connected. That, it seems to me, is a more genuine form of audience engagement (i.e. far less manufactured) and certainly in tune with the era of social media. Sadly, I’ve noticed that many startup news sites — and successful big ones, too — are resorting to the photo tricks of a decade ago. The page-view chase and demands for revenue never go away.
